Michael
was born in Massachusetts. He grew up in a small town on Cape Cod called Sagamore Beach.
He graduated from Bourne High School in 1985.
He attended college at Massasoit community College and
Bridgewater state College. He
then attended New York’s Academy of Arts in Manhattan New York on
a full scholarship, although dedicated and active in theatrical
arts, he discovered another love the Paso Fino Horse.
He purchased his first Paso Fino Horse in 1989.
Through the careful guidance of his long time friend
Robert Yunits, Michaels direction from that day changed and
his passion and dedication for the Paso Fino Horse became his
priority. By 1992
Michael had acquired more than 24 Paso Finos and trained them all.
Michael’s tutelage also came from the Late Raven Briggs of
Lexington, North Carolina. He
lived and worked with Raven for one and a half years.
Over the
years Michael has had multiple national and Grand National titles.
He has been a proud member of the Professional Trainers
association for 10 years. He
has served as Vice president and treasurer in the Northeast region.
For the passed four years he has been the high point trainer
of the North East.
Michael
has been active in clinics for the 4-H for several years.
Every October he hosts clinics dedicated to amateur owners
working with the amateur and their horse.
He presently owns one of the most well respected training and
breeding facilities in the country.
He feels his success with the Paso Fino Horse is because he
is never finished learning. Many people have remembered his saying that when you know
everything there is to know about horses then it is time to change
your profession.
His
Farm is located in Middleboro Massachusetts located 35 miles south
of Boston, one half hour from Cape Cod, and one hour from
Providence, Rhode Island. His
many years of love and dedication to the Paso Fino Horse are
attributed to the loyal clients that have supported him over the
years. Many thanks to all the people who have made this honor a
reality. A special
thanks to his peers, his fellow trainers that gave him the vote for
the 2005 trainer of the year.
