PPFTA: How many years have you been training Paso
Finos? Alberto: I have been training Paso Finos for 28
years.
PPFTA: Are there any other breeds that you have
worked with? Alberto: I haven't worked with other
breeds.
PPFTA: Is there a single horse in your career that
stands out? Alberto: Yes there is one that stands
out.
PPFTA: Was there a particular win that was more
emotionally gratifying?Why? Alberto: All wins are nice.
PPFTA: What trainers have been influential in your
career? Alberto: Some of the old-time Colombian trainers I
worked with early in my career were very influential.
PPFTA: What did winning Trainer of The Year mean to
you? Alberto: It was very nice.
PPFTA: What do you
think makes a good trainer/client relationship? Alberto:
Honesty.
PPFTA: In addition to your training
responsibilities, do you also work with A/O and/or youths
riders? Alberto: Very few times and not for business.
PPFTA: What is your most valuable piece of
equipment? Alberto: My saddle.
PPFTA: If you have
experience in the international show ring, what are the major
differences? Alberto: There is not "a" major difference -
everything is different.
PPFTA: As a trainer, what do you
consider your greatest strengths? Alberto: My roots and my
open mind.
PPFTA: Do you take an interest in, or follow any other
breeds? Alberto: I like all horses - but my love affair will
always be with with the Paso Fino.
